The Urban Workout

 


Jeff's group exercise creation (The Urban Workout) and Carolyn's creation (C-Training) are rolling out at the Main Street Village parking structure in Irvine, California!

Jeff and Carolyn are introducing many of their friends and clients to the methodology (and extreme results) that come from CrossFit training. 

WHAT is it?

The Urban Workout is an integration of an outdoor, use-what's-available kind of training and CrossFit methods of functional movements executed at high intensity over broad time and modal demands.  Each workout will consist of functional exercises and warm up, skills session/education for the movements involved in the actual workout, then the actual workout is performed (for time), followed by SMR, stretching and proper cool-down.

We provide the Olympic bars, Kettlebells, Medicine Balls, and more... your main goal is to get out of the gym and get into shape!

Due to the inherent risks of training with free weights and pushing at your physical limit, all participants in the Urban Workout or C-Training are required to schedule a Functional Movement Screen ($100, click here to schedule an appt.).  This assessment of 7 specific movements allows us to determine how well you mobilize and stabilize your body.  Once we know your capabilities we scale the workouts at your appropriate level. (current clients have already been through this screen...even if you forgot the name) 

Until you complete the FMS we will not add any weight to your movements.  You will still be allowed to participate, but instead of a kettlebell you'll use your hands; instead of an Olympic bar you'll use a wooden stick.  This is for your safety and allows us the opportunity to see how well you move without a load and recover following the workouts.  After 1 month or 8 workouts without any loading, we will begin to add loads as you are capable.  If your form breaks down, we will remove the appropriate amount of weight for you to maintain proper technique.  Arguing with your coach is grounds for immediate dismissal!  We will push you as hard as your technique will allow.

It's called Wall-Ball, and it's fun/the most horrible exercise EVER!

We are NOT a gym!  We are committed to the safe, yet aggressive pursuit of your fitness goals.  If you want to go hang out and gab with your friends for the hour, DON'T come to our workouts.  If you want to be challenged mentally and physically, come out and play.

WHEN is it?

 

It is important to arrive 5 minutes early to check in.  Arriving on time to this type of training is important because everyone starts at the same time. Each session will consist of functional exercises and warm up, skills session/education and training, and then the actual workout is performed, followed by SMR, stretching and proper cool-down.

Monday, Wednesday, & Friday mornings @ 6:30 AM

Tuesday & Thursday evenings @ 6:30 PM

Class size is limited to 8 people at a time.  Contact Jeff Alexander for your reservation.

 

WHERE is it?

Class is conducted on the top floor of the 6-story parking structure at the Main Street Village Apartments (use the map below for directions).  The top 2 floors of the parking structure are available for guests.  Be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes early, as we depart from the ground in front of the leasing office into the private, gated community at 6:30 sharp!

 

Urban Workout  Guidelines :

 

1. Please bring towel and water/electrolyte/snack if needed

2. Please arrive on time as a courtesy to your fellow trainees

3. Classes need to be pre-paid each month (see training rates below)

4. Come prepared to WORK HARD!!!

 

If you're late, we'll see you next time...the San Diego Creek bike trail is 2 blocks South on the other side of Jamboree if you want to go for a nice scenic walk or run. 

(It's exactly 3.2 miles to the Jamboree overpass.)

Urban Workout Rates* :

4 Sessions per month ........................ $80:  

8 Sessions per month ...................... $120:  

Unlimited ........................................ $150:    (either Urban Workout or C-Training)

 

*Unused sessions do not roll over to the next month. Missed classes can be made up at an open Urban Workout or C-Training class the same week.  Cash or Checks accepted. Checks need to be made out to Network Fitness.
